Small Groups at St Ternan’s

A number of small groups meet at St Ternans for study, prayer and fellowship. Some run all year round, others at particular times. Here you can find out what’s on offer and when.

Parish Fellowship

Meetings occur in the Church Hall at 8pm on the third Mondays of the month, from September or October through April or May.  Speakers on a variety of topics, from local charities to the special interests of individuals from the congregation. Outings may be planned during the summer.

Evening House Group

Meets approximately once a month in each others’ homes, often with a seasonal theme.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Group

Meets fortnightly in each other’s homes to pray for our churches and others needs, concerns, and thanksgivings.

Choir

The St Ternan’s choir offers music on Sunday mornings for the 11 o’clock service, and at Evensongs the first Sunday of the month. In addition, they are called upon to support other church-related events on Deeside and around the Diocese.  Highlights to the year include the Diocesan Choral Festival in the spring, which gathers singers from around the United Diocese of Aberdeen & Orkney, and our own Advent Lessons & Carols Service, which is also supported by the choir of Christ Church, Kincardine O’Neil.

Rehearsals are Sunday mornings, with additional dates (usually Thursday evenings) added in advance of major events.

Advent Supper Club

Last year we explored the Advent themes of peace, hope love and joy; this year we will explore what we are hoping for when the world turns.

Each evening begins with a Mocktail, followed by some food for thought, designed to promote conversation over supper. We then have a time of discussion before coffee and a bite-sized pudding and prayer.

All are welcome, keep an eye on our blog for the latest news.

Lent Supper Club

This year we explored the Spirituality of Bewilderment on a Journey with Jonah; next year we will explore some understandings of Atonement.

Each evening begins with a Mocktail, followed by some food for thought, designed to promote conversation over supper. We then have a time of discussion before coffee and a bite-sized pudding and prayer.
