Holy One, make speed to save us: O God, come quickly to help us.
Glory to God, Source of all being, Eternal Word and Holy Spirit;*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Saturdays: From Psalm 145 Exaltabo te, Deus
I will exalt you, O God my sovereign,
and bless your name for ever and ever.
Every day will I bless you and praise your name for ever and ever.
Great are you, O Lord, and greatly to be praised;
there is no end to your greatness.
One generation shall praise your works to another
and shall declare your power.
I will ponder the glorious splendour of your majesty
and all your marvellous works.
They shall speak of the might of your wondrous acts,
and I will tell of your greatness.
They shall publish the remembrance of your great goodness;
they shall sing of your righteous deeds.
O Lord, you are gracious and full of compassion,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
You are loving to everyone and your compassion is over all your works.
All your works praise you, O Lord,
and your faithful servants bless you.
They make known the glory of your dominion and speak of your power;
so that the peoples may know of your power
and the glorious splendour of your dominion.
Your sovereignty is an everlasting one;
your dominion endures throughout all ages.
Lord, you are faithful in all your words and merciful in all your deeds.
You uphold all those who fall and lift up those who are bowed down.
The eyes of all wait upon you, O Lord,
and you give them their food in due season.
You open wide your hand and satisfy the needs of every living creature.
You are righteous in all your ways and loving in all your works.
You are near to those who call upon you, to all who call upon you faithfully.
You fulfil the desire of those who fear you,
you hear their cry and help them.
I will exalt you, O God my sovereign,
and bless your name for ever and ever.
Every day will I bless you and praise your name for ever and ever.
READING: Matthew 7:1–12
‘Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbour, “Let me take the speck out of your eye”, while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbour’s eye.
‘Do not give what is holy to dogs; and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you.
‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
‘In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Do not bring us to the time of trial, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
