All Saints Golden Wedding Evensong.

On Sunday night here at St Ternan’s Banchory we celebrated 6 Golden weddings from within the choir and were joined by two other celebrating couples! The choir was augmented by that of Kincardine O’Neil and various other Deeside singers. Sir Andrew Parmley, Director of the Royal College of Organists generously offered to play for us as he was in Aberdeen that day. With 25 in the choir, I’m glad to say that the congregation did outnumber them. The singing was exquisite, a real privilege to participate in this Evensong. Here is a photo of choir and organist at the end of the pre-service rehearsal. Next stop Advent Carols!

Coffee blessings

I often tell people that I believe those who appear to be least able amongst us are blessings to help us learn the ways of the kingdom of heaven… This morning, this scene played out before me. I was sat in a cafe with someone who, despite their outgoing nature, musical and social skills, struggles to find their place in the world and considers themselves a failure. A family came into the cafe including an 11 yr old boy in a specially adapted wheelchair, who was enjoying the sensory stimulation of Fibre optic fibres. The chap I was talking to asked “WhereIsGodInThis?” He then lent over and chatted to the child, who lifted his head and articulated “Hello” – his parents were amazed. Where was God in that? A person with every advantage floundering through a sense of personal worthlessness was drawn into relationship by a profoundly disabled child… Parents were blessed by an addict; onlookers saw the kingdom of

Notices From Andy Bond : Astonishing! Two Saturdays ago Saturday, some of us gathered in the hall to hear Lynsay share her vision for our future ministry at St. Ternan’s within the community of Banchory and beyond. We were challenged to think how we reach out as The Body of Christ to a world where people know little or nothing about God or Church and have very little inclination to do so. With her personal sense of calling to open up the worship life of our churches to everyone, of all abilities, whether physically able or not, whether emotionally, educationally or mentally the same as us or different; how can we welcome all who have been created in the image of God? Jesus came to dismantle the walls between the strong and the marginalised, so that all may have life in fullness. With this tenet at the forefront of our thinking, we looked at the various aspects of our worship, our music,

Collect Almighty and merciful God, by whose grace aloneyour faithful people offer you service and praise: grant that we may hasten without stumbling towards the things that you promise; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen. A reading from the letter to the Hebrews. Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured. Let marriage be held in honour by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge fornicators and adulterers. Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or
